A gem of Bowling Green’s downtown scene, the Capitol is an active part of the Warren County Public Library system!
5 years ago, WCPL began leasing this beautiful, historic venue. Since that time, we have made numerous improvements to the facility to make sure that it can serve as a vibrant community hub and active library outlet.
If you are unfamiliar with the building’s setup, downstairs hosts a small library collection off the lobby, adjacent to the concessions area, as well as a wonderful used bookstore — Capitol Books — run by Friends of the Library – Warren County volunteers. A box office ticket window is accessible in the lobby, as well. The store and box office are primarily open during the regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.). There is a balcony area upstairs that opens during larger events, as well as staff office space.
We love hosting free library events and showing free movies under the library’s public performance license at the Capitol, and we are happy to rent the theater to local community groups and schools, as well as to producers of shows by both local and outside artists. When not in use for those purposes, groups and individuals are able to rent the Capitol for private events and movie showings.
